James W. Talley
I have been a Family Law Specialist since 1980 and a Workers’ Compensation Specialist since 1987, having been certified in both specialties by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. I earned my Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in 1971, and was admitted to the California bar in 1972. My practice is equally divided between Family Law and Workers’ Compensation and the entirety of my more than 40 years in practice has been in Escondido where I have been a partner with the law firm of Galyean, Talley & Wood since its inception in 1980.
I was honored as the 1987 “Lawyer of the Year” by the Bar Association of Northern San Diego County, have a Martindale-Hubble rating of BV Distinguished, and have been honored as a Super Lawyer in the San Diego Super Lawyer magazine continuously since 2009.
I’m a current member of MENSA inducted in 2002.

- A Judge Pro Tem in the San Diego Superior Court and the San Diego Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
- A CEB lecturer and panelist in Family Law; a member of the Board of Directors of the Bar Association of Northern San Diego County, and as its president in 1986.

- Vice President in 2006.
- A member of the Executive Committee of the California State Bar Conference of Delegates.
